In April....
All students are once again busy preparing for the upcoming Open House / Spring Concert Performance. They are practicing to master songs, dances, and instrumental pieces that represent the concepts and skills of National Standards of Music Education and our music pedagogical approach called "Orff Schulwerk."
Our Open House is indeed a great verification and an opportunity to showcase what EN students have learned in music classes throughout the year.
The Orff Schulwerk, or simply the Orff Approach, is a developmental approach used in music education. It combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play. It was developed by the German composer Carl Orff (1895–1982) and colleague Gunild Keetman during the 1920s.
In our music classes at Elementary North, all students sing, say(speech), dance, play instruments, and learn to improvise. This 2-minute video offers a brief look at the journey of discovery that EN students experience making music and movement with the Orff-Schulwerk approach. e
Doesn't this seem like so much fun??
